Common Questions

What is 'Hypnotherapy'?

Hypnotherapy is the term used to describe the use of hypnosis within a therapeutic context, i.e. helping people to alleviate symptoms and address issues which they feel limit them in some way.

Will I be asleep?

Hypnosis is not a form of sleep, nor is it a means of controlling an individual. You are in control at all times and although you can easily relax enough to “zone out” you are always aware of the process. You can choose to be aware of your surroundings and anything which I am saying although it is sometimes more enjoyable just to relax and let yourself go.

What does it feel like?

You might be surprised to know that it is very likely that you have already experienced a light trance state as most of us do on a daily basis. A classic example is that of driving a car and being unaware of having driven the past few miles. Another example is the feeling of displacement when you read a good book or enjoy a film.

How many sessions are needed?

Although individuals vary and some people can solve their issues in a single session, it is common for most individuals to attend between 2 and 6 sessions. Throughout the treatment I will assess the progress you will be making and your treatment plan will be tailored accordingly.

How much will it cost?

Each session lasts for approximately 1 hour and sessions are charged at £60. (£30 per half hour as half hour sessions are occasionally used for initial assessment and/or final reviews)

From August through December 2008, sessions are at the reduced rate of £40.
